Exciting development! The cabinets have arrived from Scholastic for our book fair, taking place from Feb. 27 to March 3, 2023.

The 2023 Book Fair takes place from Feb. 27 through March 3 at Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts. Kids, if I see you reading while on the playground, I’ll give you one of these “Caught Reading” raffle tickets.

Scholastic Book Fair needs volunteers

Scholastic Book Fair coming in February

Officially on the calendar at Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts, the Scholastic Book Fair will take place during the last week in February. The planning box arrived this week and I brought it to the library.

Scholastic Book Fair is especially exciting because it’s part of Literacy Week, a week-long celebration of the written word. Appreciation to all of the tireless volunteers who make this event possible.

Story-time cushions for SRCSA library

Looking forward to library story-time next year at Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts! These story-time cushions were purchased for the library using Scholastic Book Fairs dollars. Appreciation to School for the Arts Community Organization for making this acquisition possible.

Successful end to Scholastic Book Fair

Another successful conclusion to Scholastic Book Fairs in the library! The books and merchandise are back in their boxes and cabinets at Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts. Here’s a book-cart holding new books for the library, purchased with Book Fair dollars.

Of $4965.18 earned this past week in Scholastic Book Fair dollars, $3596.92 has been invested back into our school. (Figures supplied by Lissa Provost.) The money has gone to student Raffle prizes and books for teachers’ classrooms, as well as books for the library.

Thank you to everyone who made Literacy Week possible; you are greatly appreciated.

And what an experience for SRCSA students in fourth- through eighth-grades: an author visit and book-signing by Armand Baltazar (Timeless Diego and the Rangers of the Vastlantic). You’ll find copies of his book in all of the fourth- through eighth-grade classrooms, as well as in our library, thanks to the School for the Arts Community Organization.

Among this past week’s highlights: the Scholastic Book Fairs planning box arrived at Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts. Just a few more weeks, and the library will be transformed into a bookstore for the duration of fair. I’m looking forward to the book fair and accompanying “Literacy Week.” And I appreciate the hard work of the many volunteers that make these events possible.

New books for library via Scholastic ‘warehouse sale’

Our campus continues to be enriched by Scholastic Book Fairs proceeds; here’s Lissa Provost checking titles at a Scholastic “warehouse sale.” (A downloaded app let her search the library catalog for Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts, verifying that a book for-sale was not already in the collection.) To everyone who has bought a book through this year’s or previous book fairs ... YOUR purchases made possible more than $2,000 in new books for the school.

Book Fair dollars purchase new books for library

Are you interested in knowing what Scholastic Book Fair dollars can support? On Feb. 27, this book cart was laden with books newly cataloged and barcoded for the library at Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts.

Well, the cart is less full now, as I’ve continued to process books. As needed, I applied protective covers and got the books shelved in the library. By now, some of these books have even found their way into readers’ hands! But while the books were all together on the cart, they made for a dramatic picture.

There are a few books here that were donated from other sources, but most were purchased with dollars raised through Scholastic Book Fair. I’m deeply appreciative to everyone who made Book Fair and “Literacy Week” a reality.

School library transformed into Emerald City for Scholastic Book Fair

At Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts today, a team of volunteers transformed the library into a bookstore for Scholastic Book Fair and “Literacy Week.” Under the artistic vision of parent-volunteer Lissa Provost, the library now resembles the Emerald City of Oz. It opens for business on Monday bright and early for parents to preview its wares.

Scholastic Book Fair merchandise arrives at SRCSA

Excitement is building for Scholastic Book Fairs at Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts. Eleven cabinets arrived today, as well as a multitude of boxes. Here’s Scholastic driver Norman Miranda, bringing them into the library. Parents, check for recent communications about Book-Fair preview on Monday morning; each adult who drops in will receive a raffle ticket for each of your children who attends the school. And if school staff catches students reading ... I for one hope to give out many more tickets between now and start of fair.

“Literacy Week” and the Scholastic Book Faire are almost here, and parent-volunteer Lissa Provost put up this attention-grabbing banner today at Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts.

Prize raffle for students ‘caught reading’

Compounding the excitement of officially starting work as Library Technician at my school, on Friday I handed out my first raffle ticket to a student whom I “caught reading!”

The raffle tickets are a promotion for “Literacy Week” at Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts. The tickets were distributed to school staff on Friday, so we could start giving them to students. With each raffle ticket that a student receives, the student can enter a prize drawing.

“Literacy Week” will take place this year from Feb. 26 to March 2. I’m looking forward to supporting a Scholastic Book Fair in the library among “Literacy Week” activities.
