Each Friday that school is in session, I share the link to a read-aloud preview of a book from SRCSA library. The “First-chapter Friday” selection for Feb. 13, 2026 is Skating on Mars, by Caroline Huntoon.
A high-school hotshot challenges 12-year-old Mars to a figure skating competition, but life’s struggles begin to complicate Mars’ performance in the rink. Skating on Mars was a “Sports” selection, in 2023, for the Junior Library Guild.
