Classified Employee of the Month, September 2023
At its regular meeting on Sept. 13, the Santa Rosa School Board honored me as Classified Employee of the Month for September 2023.
Each of the district’s schools is showcased once a year. Awards are presented to a student, classified staff member, and a certificated (teacher/counselor) staff member. Although the awards are called “student of the month” and “employee of the month,” for that school, it is really “student of the year” and “employee of the year.”
From a presentation by SRCSA principal Sarah Imperato:
“Cynthia is a true asset to our school community and she seamlessly juggles two vital roles as a Library Tech and a yard supervisor. What sets Cynthia apart is her unwavering efficiency, her helpfulness, her skill, and no matter which hat she’s wearing at any given moment, she is there to support us.
“Cynthia extends her kindness, her understanding, not only to students but also to our dedicated staff members. She’s a remarkable team player and teachers who have special requests, they find her support invaluable.
“What truly stands out about Cynthia is her commitment to ensuring that our students feel seen and heard in our school community. She takes the time to inquire about students' gender, and name preferences, recognizing the importance of respecting their identities.
“Efficient communication, fairness, and consistency with students are all qualities that Cynthia embodies. Her cheerful demeanor and unwavering support for reading make her a beloved figure among students of all ages from TK to 8th grade. Each month Cynthia goes the extra mile by providing special recordings and book recommendations that tie into our Character Strong trait of the month, encouraging a love for learning in our students.
“Cynthia’s dedication extends beyond the school day. She actively participates in parent family nights and plays a crucial role in supporting our stakeholder engagement process. She fosters a sense of community and partnership between our school and families.
“Cynthia Parkhill is committed to our students’ well-being and her tireless efforts in promoting a love for reading have not gone unnoticed. We are grateful to have her as part of our Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts family.”
