Job-search help via Sonoma County Library

Among my research projects this week: job-search help through Tutor.com for Sonoma County Library cardholders.

Tutor.com offers 24-hour review of resumes and cover letters. Drop off a resume or cover letter for overnight review. You will also need to copy and paste the text, or post a link to an online listing, for the job that you're applying for.

Tutor.com also offers a Career Center, where career coaches work with job seekers in real-time, providing individualized help. Live one-to-one help is available Sunday through Saturday, from 3 to 10 p.m.

SkillsCenter™ Resource Library materials (worksheets, lessons, videos, and more) are available 24/7.

I compiled this information anticipating that teen clients will soon be entering the workforce. But even students who are not seeking a job might benefit from help with their homework.

Here are other free resources available through Tutor.com:

  • One-to-one, real-time tutoring in more than 40 subjects and test-prep areas.
  • 24-Hour Essay Review: Drop off an essay and have it reviewed overnight.
  • 24-Hour Math Drop-Off: If a student has a tough math question they just cannot figure out, they can submit the question and Tutor.com expert tutors will write up a detailed explanation of how to solve the problem.
  • Online resources — instructional videos, learning games, and more.

Tutor.com also offers Spanish-speaking support in most math, science, and social studies subjects.
