Bellview Elementary School library ‘Top 10’

Oregon Battle of the Books is behind us, but in Bellview Elementary library, I’ve been promoting student participation in the Beverly Cleary Children’s Choice and Oregon Readers’ Choice awards. I’m gratified to see award nominees on this most recent “Top 10” list.

The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate and The Year of the Book by Andrea Cheng were OBOB featured titles. But they were also award nominees.

I’ve encouraged students to read the nominated books and cast votes for their favorites. When we return from spring break, it will be near-time to report student votes to award administrators.

This list also features good representation among reading levels of books: beginning-reader, “everybody” books and upper-elementary fiction.

The Bellview library “Top 10” books include:
  1. The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling (FIC CAT)
  2. The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate (FIC APP)
  3. The Year of the Book by Andrea Cheng (FIC CHE)
  4. Elephants Cannot Dance! by Mo Willems (E WIL)
  5. Pigs Make Me Sneeze! by Mo Willems (E WIL)
  6. Dr. Seuss’s ABC by Dr. Seuss (E SEU)
  7. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling (FIC ROW)
  8. Kizzy Ann Stamps by Jen Watts (FIC WAT)
  9. The Princess and the Packet of Frozen Peas by Tony Wilson (E WIL)
  10. Squish, Super Amoeba by Jennifer L. Holm (741.5 HOL)
The Bellview Elementary School library “Top 10” represent the most often-checked-out books during the previous 30 days, as tracked by the Follett-Destiny online public access catalog. I created this flier in Microsoft Word and exported it to PDF.
