Xian Yeagan, arts council web master, dies

Sad loss to the arts community in Lake County, Calif.: Xian Yeagan died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, in San Francisco (according to posts on his Facebook timeline).

I knew Xian as an artist, and also worked with him through the Lake County Arts Council. He was its web editor, and I edited “ArtNotes,” the arts council’s quarterly members’ newsletter, from 2006 to 2010. I greatly valued his prolific contributions of photos and informative articles.

I have decided to step down as editor of ArtNotes in order to devote time toward earning my Master’s degree in Library and Information Science.

Arts council’s ‘Artie’ award winner

The Lake County Arts Council’s Board of Directors has awarded its “Artie” award to Web master Xian Yeagan. At its annual members’ meeting, which was held Sunday, Nov. 18, Executive Director Shelby Posada presented Yeagan with the statuette.

Yeagan updates the Web site, and he regularly advocates the use of this online medium for promoting local arts. Yeagan can be seen taking pictures at many LCAC events, and has also previously served as LCAC’s executive director. Well done, Xian!
