‘What's Growing in Your Garden?’

In a post to social media, Phi Kappa Phi is encouraging its members to share “What’s growing in your garden these days?” In response to this prompt, I have a rescue orchid at home that currently has a beautiful white bloom on its flower spike.

UCM, LIS 5250 : Get to know me

I am beginning a new semester in Library and Information Science through the online program at University of Central Missouri. I produced this slideshow-video with the VoiceThread platform, to introduce myself for LIS 5250, Developing and Managing Library Collections. Audio for the YouTube version was recorded with Screencastify. I also used the Screencastify editing tool to tighten transitions between slides. The thumbnail image I chose for this video depicts me with some of my plants. (In my personal life, one of the things I care about is growing plants, mostly succulents, in containers.)

Planter slipcovers from fabric

Black-cloth planters provide utilitarian and practical housing for a small garden of peppers and kale, but aesthetically, they’re rather “industrial.” Fortunately, we found brightly-patterned canvas fabric at Sew Creative in downtown Ashland, Oregon. At the beginning of June, I used this wonderfully colorful fabric to fashion planter slipcovers.

Seed libraries: Gardeners ‘check out’ seeds

There’s been an interesting confluence of energies around the subject of seed libraries. I’ve encountered three references from unique sources in recent weeks.
