Presenting … First-chapter Friday, the eBook edition. The June 20 selection features Treasure Island: Runaway Gold, by Jewell Parker Rhodes. I typically schedule an eBook preview for the first Friday of each month — but over the summer, in the interest of supporting students’ retention of learning, I decided to schedule eBook previews for the first and third Fridays.
Bestselling and award-winning author Jewell Parker Rhodes reimagines the classic novel Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson with an adventure set in modern-day Manhattan, in which three children must navigate the city’s hidden history, dodge a threatening crew of skater kids, and decide who they can really trust in order to hunt down a long-buried treasure. I read this eBook via the Libby app, and I obtained it through Sacramento Public Library.
