No school today due to poor air quality

Santa Rosa City Schools has closed its schools for today (Friday, Nov. 9), as a result of poor air quality.

Yesterday’s wind gusts brought smoke into the area from a wildfire in Butte County, California. As a result, air quality in Sonoma County is near the hazardous range.

An email went out early this morning from SRCS Superintendent Diann Kitamura:

“The air quality is nearing the hazardous range, and we believe it is safer for students and staff to remain indoors at home. We will continue to monitor the air quality throughout the weekend.”

Ms. Kitamura reminds readers, there is also no school on Monday, Nov. 12, in observation of Veterans Day.
