Wednesdays are “Walk and Roll to School” days at Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts! For the first time this week, we closed the yellow gates to the school parking lot on Wednesday; I was out in my bright yellow-green, reflective vest helping to redirect motorists.
The focus each Wednesday is promoting alternative methods for children to get to and from school instead of relying on cars. In support of “Walk and Roll to School” and in the interests of student safety, we will close the parking-lot gates each Wednesday, prior to dismissal time.
We ask that on Wednesdays, parents or guardians find legal parking for their vehicles and walk onto campus to pick up their children. If you need to access the parking spaces for people with disabilities, you may show your DMV placard to school staff at the gates.

As a cyclist, "Walk and Roll to School" made things especially memorable for my official first week back-to-work after the California fires.
