Oregon Reader’s Choice Awards 2013-2014: Nominees announced

The Oregon Reader’s Choice Award (ORCA) has released its Upper Elementary Division nominees for 2013-2014.

After reading or listening to two or more books from the list, third- to fifth-grade students will be able to vote for their favorite book between March 1 and March 31.

The 2013-2014 ORCA Upper Elementary Division nominees are:
  • Abe Lincoln at Last! by Mary Pope Osborne
  • The Emerald Atlas by John Stephens
  • Inside Out & Back Again by Thanhha Lai
  • Liesl & Po by Lauren Oliver
  • Pie by Sarah Weeks
  • Vanishing Acts by Phillip Margolin and Ami Margolin Rome
  • Young Fredle by Cynthia Voigt and
  • Zita the Spacegirl: Far from Home by Ben Hatke
(Among the nominees, Inside Out & Back Again by Thanhha Lai, Pie by Sarah Weeks and Young Fredle by Cynthia Voigt are also third- to fifth-grade division selections for Oregon Battle of the Books.)

Last year’s ORCA winner in the Upper Elementary Division was Meanwhile: Pick Any Path, 3856 Story Possibilities by Jason Shiga.

ORCA Middle School and High School divisions honor additional titles.
