Each Friday I share the link to a read-aloud preview of a book from SRCSA library. The “First-chapter Friday” selection for Sept. 2, 2022 is Don’t Stand So Close to Me, by Eric Walters.
Written and published during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, Don’t Stand So Close to Me tells the story of 13-year-old Quinn and her friends, who at first can’t believe their luck when spring break is extended an extra two weeks — even if it’s because of some virus. But when the impact of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic becomes apparent, everyone, not just the students, has to learn to adjust to their new reality. I was able originally to offer this book as a complete read-aloud. Those permissions have lapsed, but I encourage readers to check out this, and other great books from our library.
