FOSS hands-on science kits, prepped for delivery
The latest delivery of fresh curriculum from Santa Rosa City Schools brought Full Option Science System (FOSS) Kits to Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts.
FOSS is an “active-learning” science curriculum that leads students to “participate in scientific practices through their own investigations and analyses.” (Quotes are from the distributor, Delta Education.) At regular intervals, new kits arrive at SRCSA. The district also takes away those just-used in order to store them off-site.
Each FOSS Kit typically consists of two, three, or sometimes more, boxes.
With the kits’ arrival Friday, I spent the last part of my day getting them ready for delivery to classrooms. The photo depicts those kits sorted thus-far as Friday drew to its close. There are more boxes to go through, some with brand-new kits and others with accompanying textbooks.
Looking ahead to Monday, there’s cataloging in my future, along with the labeling of new kits. I really enjoy the work I do here at SRCSA.
