The “Educator Card” is part of SCL’s “Student Success Initiative,” which strives to ensure students will have everything they need to succeed, “from preschool to elementary school through college.” Other initiatives include the “Student OneCard” program, which, beginning in March, will allow students enrolled in Santa Rosa City Schools to access library resources using their school-district prefix and student I.D. number.
Any educator employed by an educational institution in Sonoma County may apply for an “Educator Card.” These include teachers employed by public and private schools, religious schools, certified home-schools, licensed child-care providers, recreational leaders, student teachers, etc.
When applying (in person, at any SCL location), applicants will need to present any of the following items to confirm eligibility:
- School ID badge
- Copy of a contract or letter confirming employment
- Paystub
- Printout of online pay information
- Home school certificate
Educator Cards must be renewed and eligibility confirmed each year; cards will expire annually on Aug. 15.
A kick-off celebration will take place at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at SCL’s Central Library, 211 E St. in Santa Rosa. Open to all educators, this is an opportunity to learn about library resources to enrich teaching and enhance learning, sign up for an Educator Card, and have the opportunity to win a Chromebook. The first 100 educators will receive a special door prize. Admission is free, light refreshments will be served, and no RSVP is required.
