In Manchester, Vermont: Artist Trish Weill and Youth Services Librarian Janet Kleinberg spearheaded a yarn-bombing by community members of the Manchester Community Library (MCL).
According to a report by Cherise Madigan for the Manchester Journal, “Providing a space for community creativity has been a longstanding tenet of the MCL’s mission, and as the facility approached completion three years ago Executive Director Betsy Bleakie designated a public art project as an early goal.”
Bleakie was able to revisit the idea as MCL neared its three-year anniversary on Nov. 15 of this year.
First, the library requested donations of yarn, then encouraged patrons to use the supplies to craft contributions to the project. According to Weill, as cited in Madigan’s article, the installation will stay up “until nature takes it down.”
