For Bellview science fair: pay a visit to ‘507’ in library
In Bellview library, teacher-librarian Matt Damon has been reviewing the Dewey Decimal classification system for shelving “informational” books: in order numerically, starting with 000 and continuing to 999. Each number corresponds to a subject, with similar subjects grouped in categories.
The Bellview science fair, in April, offers motivation and opportunity to put this navigational ability to use. As Bellview students begin to plan out their scientific experiments, a great place to start is surely section 507 with the science-fair books. They are grouped as part of the 500 class, which is Natural Sciences.
More Than 100 Experiments for Science Fairs and Projects by Vicki Cobb, illustrated by Dave Klug. Experimenting with Science in Sports by Robert Gardner. Backyard Science by Christopher Maynard, and the MythBusters Science Fair Book by Samantha Margles. These are a few titles out of many available.
