Congratulations to Jackson County Library Services director Tammy Westergard, named a “Change Agent” among Library Journal’s annual “Movers and Shakers” roster. The write-up honors her for workforce development and technology efforts in Carson City, Nev.
In June 2015, Westergard became director of the 15-branch Jackson County Library District. She joined Library District directors Maureen Swift and Carol Doty in developing Jackson County’s 2016–2021 five-year strategy for aligning library services and programs to meet the needs of diverse communities within Jackson County, Oregon.
“Our Library District is very pleased to have Tammy at the helm, and we are excited to already be reaping the benefits of her Nevada experiences and building upon that,” Jackson County Board President Monica Weyhe said in a statement issued by the library district. “As soon as she arrived, she began reaching out and communicating with many different potential partners in education, business and social and community services.”
The Jackson County libraries’ five-year strategy is in final stages of development. Approximately 1,000 people participated in the strategic planning process.
“When our plan is completed in April, it will include local formal education and workforce training partners to help Rogue Valley residents improve their skills or develop new ones to get good jobs here, helping Jackson County to be a place where individuals and communities thrive,” Swift said.
