Religious Explorations: Recent posts

Here are recent posts to social media in my professional role as Administrative Coordinator for the Religious Explorations program at the Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. I have worked part-time in this capacity since May 2014.

The least obvious and perhaps most important benefit of REI’s decision to let its employees ‪#‎OptOutside‬ is that it’s “good for kids,” writes Michael Lanza at Beacon Broadside. “Children emulate their parents,” and Lanza cites alarming statistics about declining youth activity and health.

At Huffington Post, Sikivu Hutchinson draws attention to a privilege that white children enjoy — to act out, talk back, play with gadgets and clothing styles — arguing that when black children do this they are criminalized.

At the Huffington Post, B. Shaw Drake and Megan Corrarino argue that The United States’ continued refusal to ratify the U.N.’s Convention on the Rights of the Child “is damaging both to our international reputation and to the health and safety of the children within our borders.”
