Here are recent posts to social media in my capacity as Administrative Coordinator. With these selections, as with earlier posts, I emphasize connecting people with information that benefits them.
With discussions of race as with sexuality, young people will “fill in the blanks” to satisfy their need to know. From Gail Forsyth-Vail at Call and Response/UUA Blogs, an argument that UU parents and teachers must talk with children and youth about race and racism.
Check out this write-up of Rev. Nan White, RVUUF’s developmental minister, among new ministers in UU congregations in the Pacific Northwest District.
The Unitarian Universalist Association promotes a “Common Read” each year among its “multigenerational” Religious Education resources. A study guide is now available for the 2014-2015 selection, Reclaiming Prophetic Witness: Liberal Religion in the Public Square by Paul Rasor.
The discussion guide offers plans for a single 90-minute session and a series of three 90-minute sessions. The Common Read invites UUs “to explore and claim our contribution, as religious liberals, to the pressing moral and ethical debates of our contemporary world.”
“The work of Mister Rogers is a great resource to turn to when you need to accompany your child through a time of mourning whether it be due to death, divorce, moving or other loss.” (This recommendation is from the Church of the Larger Fellowship’s RE-Create.)
