At Publishers Weekly, Andrew Albanese has compiled the Top 10 Library Stories of 2013. Topping the list is eBook borrowing, which showed significant growth and increased competition among vendors in 2013.
Google’s library scanning program, the “rough debut” of Common Core state education standards, ongoing support but declining use of libraries, public access policies for federally-funded research and digital library collections also make appearances on the list.
Not on the list, but of interest to this reader is PW’s increased commitment to coverage of library news. In its “Meet the Team” preview for the American Library Association’s Midwinter Meeting, PW explains:
