A report by Justin Bourke for KDRV Newswatch 12 underscores the importance of raising funds for the Ashland Branch Library. It cites Friends of the Ashland Public Library president Amanda Casserly saying that money from the event isn’t enough to save the library from being closed, but that she’s hopeful a service district will be set up to provide dedicated funding.
“The funding for the county I believe would be running out next year, so they’d be looking at closing the branches, and then after that they’d be looking at closing the system.”Book sale hours today are from noon to 2 p.m. in the Ashland Branch Library’s Gresham Meeting Room, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. According to “News and Events” at Jackson County Library Services, the sale will feature an assortment of like-new, gift-quality books in all genres including fiction, nonfiction, and children’s titles.
The sale will also feature a selection of CDs and DVDs. Ashland businesses have donated an array of themed gift basket items, as well as gift certificates.
Louie’s Restaurant and Bar is located on the Ashland Plaza. During “Friends of the Ashland Public Library Week,” Louie’s will donate 100 percent of the profits from patrons’ purchases to Friends of the Ashland Public Library if patrons identify themselves as supporters of the Ashland library.
