At Middle Country Public Library in Centereach, N.Y., volunteers are yarn-bombing trees with thousands of crocheted circles created earlier in the year through the “Crochet It!” community project.

Artist Carol Hummel offered instructional workshops in June, and Centereach Adult Services made “Crochet It!” kits available, complete with all needed materials.

Hummel returned in September for the yarn-bombing installations, which began Sept. 9 and was planned to continue through Sept. 22.

The project attracted Newsday coverage that includes several photographs and brief write-up by Thomas A. Ferrara. According to the article, approximately 200 people contributed crocheted circles.
